2015-06-28 Travel from HK to Shenzhen

2015-06-28

I took the chance to travel to Macau and HK on Dragon Boat Festival Holiday.
On June 20, I planned to go to Shenzhen from HK, to visit Luca and Belle. It took only 20 mins from Crystal's place to the border by bus. The bus went through Shenzhen Bay, where the scene was astonishing, especially in a great weather like the day.

The passing procedure is as bellow:
HK border > 30 seconds walk > China Border

I failed to enter into Shenzhen because I didn't have visa although I have Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents. That's funny. China doesn't accept Taiwan Passport but still require Taiwanese to have visa for entering into China. Anyway, I was asked to go back to HK. In the short distance which should take no more than 3 mins by walk from Shenzhen Check Point to HK, I was investigated by at least 3 officers. They recorded down my ID and took me to the next check point. Finally, I was took to HK Check Point which made me feel better as I knew I was back to a civilized place again.

After leaving the border, I took the bus and Shenzhen Bay was again in front of me. It was such a special experience that HK and Shenzhen are just a bay distance but the people have so different ways of living and ways of understanding the world.

2015-01-22 Tesco!

2015-01-22

There are some fun to have as a HR. For example, being allowed to log into hunter websites is one of  the benefits. I have a number of interesting experiences which are not proper to share with my colleagues as they may not be able to capture my feelings.

So, what delighted me during my work? There was a time that I logged in to the hunter website to look for qualified candidates for interview. Suddenly, a familiar key word just pop up. Guess what?! That's a foreigner who used to study in Sheffield Hallam applying for a job in my company! It was just rare that I can still feel the connection to Sheffield though I am in Taiwan. Another case is, I saw a friend who I made in Sheffield applied for a vacancy in my company! I was so surprised at the moment when I opened his resume but I just had to be fair and admitted that he was not qualified enough for the position. Aside from this, noticing someone who used to work in the brands I like also makes me happy, i.e., there was someone who used to work in TKMaxx which is my favorite store in UK!

Anyway, I adore anything relates to my UK life. And, today, I am pleased again. I had an interview with a candidate who used to work in Tesco Taiwan! Oh! And this is the first time that I know there was Tesco Taiwan! According to The Guardian, Tesco exits Taiwan in 2005 and was absorbed into Carrefour. What a sad! I couldn't join the time that Tesco develops here. (Tesco to Pull out of Taiwan)

When it comes to Tesco, yes, it is one of my most beautiful memory in UK. Therefore, it was in my visiting point for my trip to UK in December 2014. I just wanted to feel the household shopping memory there. Oh, and I can't put the self checkout system and the reduced stuff alongside as they are all my favorite parts of Tesco.

2015-01-21 World Travel

2015-01-21

Finally I realized a truth that on the way to the wonderland, people can only accompany you for a short path, you still have to go through it alone. People come and go and change their direction because they start to have different ideas about 'wonderland'. No one is to be blamed for dropping out because it is just different expectation for life.

Yes, I am moving on though the memories are so wonderful.

I attended to a World Travel sharing speech on 16th Jan. 2015. (Thanks to the popular travel industry, many travel agent have this kind of free speech to share travel experiences with the public)

The speaker is Fiona. She has been a traveler for long and has 4 times world travel experiences. The first time she went on world travel was with her sister. They followed the famous book "Around the World in Eighty Days" as written by Jules Verne. For their first stop, it was 'Reform Club' in London as the booked indicated. However, the receptionist didn't allow Fiona and her sister to enter into the club as they are not members. The sisters were not pleasant about the way they were treated. Even though, they still insisted to start from the gate of 'Reform Club' for their journey.  After 80 days of their amazing trip, they returned to the 'Reform Club'. The receptionist was so surprised at their return and could hardly believe that they finished the route according to "Around the World in Eighty Days". To reward the brave sisters, the receptionist made an exception that he showed the girls the 'Reform Club' and took photos for them inside the club.

Photo took on 21st March, 2013 @ Netherlands
What Fiona inspired me is that 'where is a will, there is a way', you may not be accepted in the beginning but your persistence will prove your desire and your ability. Ultimately, whether you are accepted or not, your competence have leveled up and the original rejection doesn't bother you anymore as it is no longer in your area of concern.

Oh, and Fiona only spent  GBP6000 on this world travel. That's not much, ah?!

I know one day I will become an experienced world traveler and arrange travel tours professionally for tourists. My vision gets wider and my mind gets stronger toward the way to my wonderland.

2014-10-19 One of the worst hostel in HK

2014-10-19 Sunny

It was 8 Sept. 2014. In the beginning, I planned to stay in HK from 5 Sept. to 7 Sept. and live in THE SALISBURY - YMCA OF HONG KONG. However, I do love Crystal and Ilkin too much that I wanted to spend more time with my dear friends. Thus, I changed my flight back to Taiwan to 8 Sept. and booked for another night stay in HK. As I didn't have budget for the additional one night stay, I choose a hostel for my accommodation on 7 Sept. I have to say, this is absolutely one of the worst hostel I have ever tried!

Panda's Hostel, well, actually it was not so bad as the reception is in normal standard and the room set is ok. However, it did annoy me a lot as the air-conditioner kept made noise during the whole night!!! It was summer time and I could just bear the annoy sound in that night! Actually, I hardly slept and was totally tortured by the unpleasant environment.

Anyway, this is to make record of my travel experience and wish no one will suffer from what I had ever.

2014-10-08 And the days never comes back

2014-10-08 Sunny

I miss Sheffield and the old days badly.

It has been a hard time for me during these days. I don't love my job and want to escape from the office frequently. I wished I had tried every means I could to stay in UK.

And I miss Sheffield so much. I miss the place and the friends. We were as happy as in the heaven.
Nothing was to be worried except what to enjoy the next moment.

The scenes in Sheffield come to my mind from time to time. They keep lingering in my brain and make me feel sorrow. I miss every corner in Sheffield. I miss Mapping street. I miss the cold weather which forced me to walk quick.

And I miss the endless nights out in Sheffield.

Friends, Sheffield and UK, I miss all of you terribly.

2014-05-25 An inspiring passage

2014.05.25 Sun.

Today I read from a magazine which there is a passage inspired me a lot and just fit to what I think and how I feel.
The idea is from a Japanese businessman who starts his entrepreneur when he is 60 years old. He decides to go to a unfamiliar country to be a volunteer.
Mr. 山本恒雄 says: "在國外的生活就像小孩一樣,看到任何事物都會覺得新奇。只要熬過適應期的辛苦,不用刻意激勵自己也會自動自發的奮力向前。"

That's exactly how I interpret my overseas experience! And I would like to do it again!

2014-05-24 Support Training Activity

2014.05.24 Sat.

Today I went to support a departmental training in a hotel. During the training, I suddenly can understand why training is so important. To me, I born in a family that my father has his own business so I usually receive business information from the management side. And now, I am in HR department where I can meet the chief managers everyday and feel the fast moving path of the company. However, to an employee who is working in an office/warehouse which is far from the power center, the individual actually couldn't realize what they do in fact would influence a company a lot. For example, a simple well-done task would lead to a better operation process in the following stages. A little saving on papers could lead to the company's cost-saving. Therefore, training plays an important role to educate the employees the crucial work detail they should follow and let them know the reason why the work requirement is necessary. By doing this, the employees can realize their importance in a company and feel more commit to the organization.
Today's training is in Taipei Garden Hotel, there are tea break snacks and good environment venue. However, I think the toilet is too samll (3F) and the waitress didn't provide tissues in the tea break set which decrease the value of the service.
